Our morning began with an orientation with Joni Valencia from Peacework. She went through the ground rules, safety and our itinerary for the next week or so.
Participants from the Department of Youth Services, a youth leadership development program, volunteered to show us around Corozal this morning. They were a great group of 5 or 6 young Belizeans who gave us personal tours of the town square, local shops and water front.
Day 2 - PM
After a delicious lunch, we headed out to our designated schools to discuss our planned projects.
Tasty, tasty, tasty pork chops, potatoes and salad. |
We were thrilled to meet the school staff today. Staff from Libertad and Chan Chen schools discussed the community fair, Easter camp and garden projects with us. After discovering new details, we realize we have a lot more planning and organizing to do!
The Chan Chen garden leaders - sizing up the task at hand. Overwhelmed? |
Discussing project plans with the Libertad school. |
We went shopping for construction supplies after checking out garden sites. We purchased everything from screws, wheelbarrows, hoses, hammers, etc. to complete our projects for the next few days. |
